Informal Learning &
Youth Programming

There are lots of ways to join us at Hayes Farm without committing to a full-time or formal program. Take a look at our informal opportunities below, including Growers' Guild sessions, drop-in learning, Youth & Family progamming, and volunteering.

Volunteering

We are always looking for extra sets of hands and extra  minds to help us work toward our mission, and to simply get things done. Whether your interest is 'in the weeds' on farm, connecting with community, helping on veggie pick up days, early season help in the hoop house, logistics, or organizational structure and governance (etc., etc., etc.!), we would love to have you as part of our team!

Volunteer opportunities can be one-time only or routine, and we love to host groups for team building and community days of action.

If you are interested in volunteering with us at Hayes Farm, please get in touch with us at hayesteachingfarm@gmail.com or 506-260-7932. Can't wait to hear from you!

Youth & Family Programming

Parent & Me Programs for K-2 and Gr 3-5 Monthly weekend  'Parent & Me' programs are
designed such that child and parent can learn together with a maximum of 8 families.
They will learn to grow together at Hayes Farm on a plot specifically designed for our
educational programming.  Food and nature related exploration and hands on crafts are
part of this experience. Children can harvest food grown to take home.

**starting in April 2022**

Teen Summer Programming
The teen programming is experiential
learning at its best, along with the
advantages of working outside and
developing
a variety of skills. Teens
will plant, grow, harvest, and
distribute produce, including taking
some home to eat.

Travelling Programs Under development for Winter 2022-23 is a series of stand alone educational youth programs that can be tailored to any age group. Examples:  pea shoots, seed bombs

All Youth & Family Programming is free with your $20 annual NB Community Harvest Gardens membership

A Day on the Farm

We're offering an immersive opportunity to spend a day with us on the farm and see if our learn-to-farm programming is right for you! This is a great opportunity for those interested in our Regenerative Farming Internship programs to try things out before committing to joining us!

Drop us a line to learn more!

Drop-in Sessions

Online sessions are available via Zoom. They are typically supported by a powerpoint presentation &/or video &/or images, and also include group discussion and opportunities for questions.

On-farm sessions are back with a maximum of 20 participants. We tend to move around the farm for these sessions, so please come dressed for the weather, and let us know if you have any limitations to this format that we should be aware of.

Growers' Guild Sessions
Thanks for a great turnout in 2022, GG sessions will return in February 2023!

Growers' Guild sessions are not workshops. Instead, we are gathering like-minded people - from beginners to professionals - to discuss a common topic. Hayes Farm invites you online to join us in conversation. You'll come away with new ideas, resources, and networking opportunities, whether your growing goals are small, medium, or large scale.

Growers' Guild sessions will be held each Sunday afternoon in February from 1-3pm on Zoom. Participants can join us online, or call in from a landline or cellphone. Participation is free, however donations to our Crowdfund Campaign are encouraged.  These donations supplement public funding we receive and income we earn through paid programming and produce sales, and are essential in enabling Hayes Farm to carry on our work. Thank you and we look forward to talking with you soon!
